Prosodic and Segmental Evaluation of Dysarthric Speech

چکیده
We are investigating acoustical analysis for dysarthric speech, which appears as a symptom of neurologic disease, in order to elucidate its physiological and acoustical mechanism, and to develop aids for diagnosis and training, etc. In this report, acoustical characteristics of various kinds of dysarthrias are measured. As a result, shrinking of the F0 range as well as vowel space are observed in dysarthric speech. We performed a perceptual experiment to clarify how such parameters affect so-called “monotonous” impression, and found that abnormality in the F0 range affects the monotonous impression.

Familiarisation conditions and the mechanisms that underlie improved recognition of dysarthric speech.
This investigation evaluated the familiarisation conditions required to promote subsequent and more long-term improvements in perceptual processing of dysarthric speech and examined the cognitive-perceptual processes that may underlie the experience-evoked learning response. Sixty listeners were randomly allocated to one of three experimental groups and were familiarised under the following con...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Cantonese dysarthric speech corpus
Dysarthria is a neurogenic communication disorder affecting speech production. Significant differences in phonemic inventories and phonological patterns across the world’s languages render generalization of disordered speech patterns from one language (e.g, English) to another (e.g., Cantonese) difficult. Capitalizing on existing methods in developing Englishlanguage dysarthric speech corpora, ...
متن کاملProsody Analysis of L2 English for Naturalness Evaluation Through Speech Modification
This study investigates how different prosodic features affect native speakers' naturalness judgement of L2 English speech by Chinese students. Through subjective judgment by native speakers and objectively measured prosodic features, timing and pitch related prosodic features, as well as segmental goodness of pronunciation have been found to play key roles in native speakers' perception of nat...
متن کاملLexical boundary error analysis in hypokinetic and ataxic dysarthria.
This investigation is the second in a series to examine a potential source of reduced intelligibility in dysarthric speech, namely the mismatch between listeners' perceptual strategies and the acoustic information available in the dysarthric speech signal. Lexical boundary error (LBE) analysis was conducted on listener transcripts from phrases produced by speakers with hypokinetic dysarthria, a...
متن کاملCharacterization of atypical vocal source excitation, temporal dynamics and prosody for objective measurement of dysarthric word intelligibility
Objective measurement of dysarthric speech intelligibility can assist clinicians in the diagnosis of speech disorder severity as well as in the evaluation of dysarthria treatments. In this paper, several objective measures are proposed and tested as correlates of subjective intelligibility. More specifically, the kurtosis of the linear prediction residual is proposed as a measure of vocal sourc...
